Picture of a balcony

Yes, it's just a random picture I took from my balcony in a suburban area of Mardin, where I lived at that time. However, I recently revisited some memories after I suddenly caught the smell of the perfume I wore that time.

It reminds me of myself in a bedroom alone, staring at the ceiling after roaming around Mardin. The smell of perfume mixed with sweat brings out the contrast to the ambiance that evening. With my window was open, a view of the dark blue sky with a gentle touch of yellowish street light color, and the breeze of cold wind, and the smell of the spring passing through my face. Sometimes I saw some kids playing football in front of a small local tobacco shop with their parents watching, cheering their kids kicking the ball from foot to foot. Their parents were chatting with the local neighbors sipping tea from a small cup, a typical Turkish teacup, yet laughing at the same time to their jokes then taking a small sip of their cigarette.

Small talks and laughter fill out the emptiness of the streets. The ambiance attracts me to go there to hang out a little bit with them.

Then I walked out of my place to get some drinks.

It was pretty cold that time. A small cup of hot tea may be a good idea.

I entered the small tobacco shop, and two young kids took charge at the cashier, one of them playing a game on their phone, and their parents were tidying the store before closing.

I ordered a cup of tea using the basic Turkish that I had just learned. Everyone looked at me. I thought either they didn't care or were just curious about why a random Southeast Asian guy was in front of their shop.

However, it comes to the challenge when I want to start a conversation with the locals. Some small talks about the weather and how I liked the city have a high success rate.

Though this is a simple thing that you may find around your home, the point is about the sound, the feel, and the ambiance that create a new harmony and combination. Imagine music with the same beat and tone you hear frequently, and you may find it familiar and not that interesting. Sometimes you find a new color in harmony in simple situations.

Well, I hope it gets into your mind because either for me, it is kind of thing that hard to explain.

The recent month has been a pretty tough one for me as I am starting my new life here in Toulouse, trying to remember some old memories. Sometimes I relive some stories through sounds or smells around me where it connects with some previous events. I admit that my sensing ability is pretty bad, even for my sense of humor. My mind always travels away between the past and the future recently.

People may think that I shouldn't tell stories and show more about feelings that are not connected to what science meant as an engineer. However, there is this word from Nikola Tesla.

"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration."

From the different places I visit, there is always new energy, frequency, and vibration to be explored. I believe in the world of art and science, its harmony that makes the universe still running until now.
